there is a special place in my heart for cilent cinema. in many ways, i consider it to be the purest form of the medium. i'm especially partial to the great films of chaplin and keaton as well as those spooky german visions from the 20s ( cabinet of dr. caligary, nosferatu, metropolis ), happy/leggy visions from the 30s ( dames, 42nd street, footlight parade ) are also amongst my favorites., others include films by the brothers coen ( big lebowski, o brother where art thou ), wachowski and quay... fellini ( 8 1/2, la strada ), bunuel ( l'age d'or, the exterminating angel ), and christopher nolan ( memento, batman begins, the prestige ) and holy mountain
